Author Spotlight: Robert A Meacham – The Release
Robert describes writing The Release as fun, challenging, and being able to put a frenzy of words to sentences that ultimately has himself splattered all over its pages.
The Release is a gripping story about a young man’s struggle to survive the memories of a childhood horror. Unloved by a substance-addicted mother, and beaten daily by an alcoholic father, John Michaels finds himself reenacting the violence that demonized him as a child. His suppression of feelings cannot extinguish the nightmares that live on in his mind. The battle for normality is his story.
As far as motivations for writing The Release, there are many. I am motivated everytime I read about or see abuse happening to a child. Over the years, I have been involved with the Big Brother Program and hoped to have helped some children realize that their abuse is not a normal way of living nor are they isolated from people who do care about them.
I am passionate about teaching children that they too have choices in life, a choice to be a productive loving human being and they do not have to choose to re-enact their horrors.
